There has been much discussion about cell phones giving off radiation when a call is being received. When the phone is put to the ear radiation waves are sent directly to the brain. Much of the discussion how much radiation is too much. The limit is 1.6 W/kg according to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). The highest radiation emitted phone is the Motorola V195s topping out at the limit. In Europe the limit is 2.0 and in Canada it's 1.6.

There is a video currently on YouTube.com that shows a group of people using their phones to make popcorn. This was to show that cell phones give off enough radiation to actually pop popcorn. However, this video had been said to be a hoax. The source stating that if a phone gives off enough radiation or electromagnetic energy to actually do that, then whenever we put our phone to our head it should explode. According to the FCC the best phone in lowest radiation terms is the Nokia 7710 followed by the popular Blackberry Storm 9500 Smartphone.

In a 10 year study by the World Health Organization (WHO), a link has been found between long term cell phone use and brain tumors. The decade long project cost $30 million and surveyed 12,800 people in 13 countries. This included people already suffering from brain tumors, as well as healthy cell phone users. While the final results have not been issued, the preliminary results linked cell phone exposure to 3 different types of brain tumors and a tumor in the salivary gland.
